Welcome to my photographic and art website! I hope you enjoy the variety of my work, covering aspects of our natural world - wildlife and the natural landscapes at home and abroad.

latest: Exhibition showing at Bear Steps Gallery, St Alkmund's Square, Shrewsbury, Shropshire. SY1 1UH
Exhibition runs daily from 10am to 4pm.

I shall be exhibiting about 25 of my wildlife and landscape paintings and half a dozen paintings, based on Shropshire and North Wales wildlife and landscapes and wildlife. I'll be raffling a piece of my work to raise funds for the QE Hospital Birmingham Heart and Lung Transplant Centre and some funds for the West Midlands Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre at Heartlands Hospital.

June 2016: Thank you to all who bought my fundraiser coffee table photographic book - it raised £6033.00 to support NHS specialist clinical care, shared between QE Hospital Birmingham Heart & Lung Transplant Centre and Heartlands Hospital's Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre for purchasing vital medical equipment for their respective wards with the monies. My sincere thanks.

The sense of feeling you're part of 'their world' for a while, away from the office, shops, traffic or man-made disturbance, is the greatest pleasure of wildlife photography and painting in particular for me. The fresh air and space is liberating and is good for all our souls.

For wildlife photography, I aim to coincide with the best light of the day - early morning around sunrise and 'the golden hour' around sunset.

In landscapes, I aim to create atmosphere, whether it be a photograph or painting.

In recent years I've made trips to the Norway and Finland, Shetlands, Skomer and Saltee (off S.E. Ireland) for seabird photography, before that heading to South Africa's Kruger National Park for arguably the most exotic wildlife. Returning a bit closer to the UK as my health further deteriorated in the last 4 years, I've tried to capture the essence of beauty and intrigue in Britain's own flora and fauna, adding my watercolour paintings to my photography.

Whilst on the active transplant list for a double lung transplant due to cystic fibrosis, I no longer had the energy or strength to go out photographing for much of 2013 and 2014 with the necessary heavy kit. Consequently, I changed my focus to my first love, watercolour painting which I taught myself as a child, but gave up 15 years ago. The skills of composition and understanding the way light behaves are transferable between painting and photography; you'll see my subjects are similar too.

Hopefully there will be some images which give you some pleasure here. In July 2014 I received a double lung transplant which has given me renewed strength and stamina to go out photographing, thanks to the generosity and kindness of my donor and their family. My photography and painting subjects remind me of my donor each day. Please discuss your wishes in terms of organ donation with those close to you. My donor saved my life!

Thank you for your interest in this website, my work and any support you give in purchasing any pieces.

Please revisit my site from time to time, as I'm updating it more regularly with new subject material. Any suggestions on what you would like to see are welcome!
